Gillian and Greg have been friends of mine for a few years now. When they got engaged in December, I was honored when Gillian approached me to take their engagement photos. She had the perfect vision of having their photos taken at the Dumbarton Oaks Park Conservancy in Georgetown once spring arrived. We were incredibly lucky to schedule such a beautiful day when so many trees and flowers were in bloom for this organic, ethereal Georgetown engagement session!
Greg met Gillian in college at the University of Florida. Greg is from DC and moved back to the DMV after graduation. The two reconnected when Gillian moved to DC for work and the rest is history! Greg had the sweetest proposal idea. He surprised Gillian with a “surprise” stop at the Inn at Perry Cabin on the way home from visiting her beloved grandparents in Delaware.
As Gillian put it, “As we were driving through the back roads of DE and MD, Greg suggested we stop somewhere since it was a sunny, winter day and Gillian said she had always wanted to go to St. Michael’s on the Eastern Shore. Upon arriving, we wandered the little main street and popped into some shops. After an hour or so, Greg suggested we get on the road to head home and I asked if we could stop quickly to see the Inn at Perry Cabin. “Of course” Greg said, and off we went. Driving up, it was as charming as Gillian thought it would be, and after parking, immediately walked out back to the water. The sun was setting, there wasn’t a cloud in the sky, and we were the only ones out there. We walked out onto the dock and were talking about how pretty and peaceful it was, and Greg suggested we go grab a drink inside and get back to DC.” Gillian turned around to take a picture of the Inn and as she took a step to go, she heard Greg’s proposal!
The ring is precious as it is Gillian’s grandmother’s ring who lives in Delaware. This year, her grandparents will be married 65 years!
